Washington DC with kids

It’s a little challenging travelling with kids. Not to mention a baby or toddlers.
When we last year, we have a 1yr old and 2.5yrs old. This is our 2nd time. The first time, our baby was still 6mons old, so it was not that hard, though it’s tiring for my husband to carry him around with a baby carrier.

We have our car and stayed in hotel. We actually have 3 days to roam around the city, but you can do it for 2 days too.
For our first day, we went to see the Lincoln Memorial, National Mall, Washington Monument, National World War II Memorial and the Jefferson Memorial. Since they are all in one place and just walking distance.

We found a parking lot near or close to Jefferson Memorial. We spent like half day to see these attractions.

The next day we went to see the Capitol Hill, White House and downtown mainly to eat.

Not much for us, but it was enough. We didn’t schedule a tour inside the White House. You need to request/schedule up to three months in advance and no less than 21 days prior to the desired tour date and you can do it here.

Travelling with kids is manageable as long as you have everything. Stroller, food, snacks, milk, diaper, some toys, extra clothes, wipes etc.

We went to LEGO Discovery Center Washington, D.C., additional activities for kids, if you have extra time. They will surely love it. It’s inside the mall, so you can have some meal too before or after, or shop around.

We didn’t use the subway in Washington, D.C. Since we can just walk and put the kids in the stroller and let them run for a bit. The challenge I found is that, toddlers wants to walk or run more, and don’t want to be in stroller. I guess they get bored so sometimes we need to distract them with some toy or some children videos so they can go to stroller.

We just also drove so it took us almost 8hrs to get to Washington D.C. So as expected, there’s more stops than usual.

But it was fun to travel with the family. They are still small, but they get to see more than your house and neighborhood.
