Things to do in Buffalo New York
Buffalo is the second largest city in New York. And Niagara Falls is just 30 minutes away from city proper. I’ve list some “Things to do in Buffalo New York” that I already tried. So what’s in Buffalo New York?
1. Brighton Park Batting Cages
This is fun thing to do during summer. You just need to bring your own bat, or rent one at the place. 1 token is $1.50 or 6 tokens for $7. For more info, go HERE. It’s open from mid April to September 30.
I haven’t tried softball or baseball, so this is my first time to do this. Well I have some miss and hits, but one thing is for sure, I don’t have a good batting stance…LOL. I thought I had, but when I saw those pictures and videos, I was like “I thought I will look great?!!!” ?. It was fun though, and really hurts my arm ?.
Trying hard to hit the ball ?
And this is how you do it ?
2. Broadway Shows
There are different Broadway shows every month or depends how long they will be in the city. Last December 2017. We were able to watch Lion King in Shea’s Performing Arts Theater. We got our tickets as a Christmas gift. So not really sure how it cost ?.
Go HERE for upcoming shows in Shea’s Theater.
3. Dave & Busters
As they say, Eat, Drink, Play and Watch Sports. All in one ?. We tried their arcade games, which, if you earn some points, you can exchange it for an item, based on your points. Then once you’re tired, you can drink and eat inside and watch some sports game too ?. Visit their website for details.
4. The Ride for Roswell
It is one of nation’s largest cycling events, where the raised funds will go to Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center. It’s really fun to join some noncompetitive events at the same time supporting a charity. This is held every year during the month of June. But registration starts as early as January.
Well I made it through 30-mile bike ride. I hope to do a 45- mile this year ?. Good Luck!
5. Canal Fest in Tonawanda
This runs for 8 days in 3rd week of July. It is along the Erie Canal. Admission is always free including the music events and shows, unless stated. Canal Fest opens at 5:00 pm to 11:00 pm during weekdays, Saturdays’ at 10:00 am and Sundays’ at 11:00 am. There are rides and games for all ages ? and of course food. Love the Twirl potato fries ?. Click HERE for more information and FAQs
6. Open Ice Skating in Canalside
I just tried ice skating when I was in High School, and just once. I’m excited to try this again, but at the same time, I don’t want to fall. LOL. Well at least I have my boyfriend to hold on to, and was able to ice skate like a professional (insert joke here ?). We had a gift certificate for $20, that includes the admission and ice skating shoes for 2. There’s also station, where you can buy hot chocolates and snacks. If you’re not up for ice skating, you can try the curling too! By 4:00 pm, we were able to see figure skating for 15 mins. We almost miss it because we are also watching some kids dancing at the rest station.
7. American Falls / US side of Niagara Falls
It’s a 30 minute-drive from Buffalo downtown. There’s a different view of Niagara Falls from Canada and US side. Both of them have a cruise. For Canada they have the Hornblower cruise and for US side they have the Maid of the mist cruise, for you to get a closer look at the Niagara Falls, but get ready to get wet ?.
We went to US side Niagara Falls last December, and was really stunned with how beautiful it is during winter ?
Well, we just went there for some pictures, but we can’t stay longer than 10 minutes because it was so cold ?.
8. See Buffalo Bills game at New Era Field Falls
During NFL season and you happen to be in Buffalo, you might want to check if they have a home game and experience the Bills Tailgate ?
9. Drive-in Theater. In summer, you can also enjoy watching 2 movies in a price of $10 with family or friends in Drive in. You can bring your own food and drinks, plus blankets and pillow or chairs. Or there’s always concessionaire where you can buy some snacks too. For schedules and movies, check it here
10. Mini Golf or Pot Pot or Drive Range. Also you can try the Drive range, you can bring your own golf club or you can rent it. There’s also mini golf or pot pot for kinds or beginners. And there are indoors, so you can also enjoy it during winter. For more information, click here.
11. Eternal Flame Falls. During Summer, why not hike and visit this place which has a small natural gas-fueled flame behind the small waterfall. This can be found in Chestnut Ridge Park. It’ll be 30-minute hike from the parking lot. There’s some signs or numbers to know you’re in the right path.
I want to visit Niagara Falls someday.
I am from Syracuse and go to Buffalo a lot for Hockey games during the NHL season. I can tell you the Canal Side skating is a popular spot in the winter time! I love it there.
Wow, nice that you’ve tried it. It was my first time 🙂
