Stonehenge and Bath Day Trip from London
As we all know, Stonehenge is one of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. So we can’t miss this while in London. That’s why we booked a day trip to Stonehenge and Roman Bath. I searched if there’s a way to go there and do it by ourselves. But I guess it’s hard unless you rent a car, and we don’t want to drive in London ?
I searched some tour to Stonehenge, and luckily there’s a deal in Groupon for a day trip in Stonehenge. Initially, we just like to see the Stonehenge. But then read some reviews that it’s worth to include Roman Bath. So we got our deal in Groupon for these sites. For £56. We got our tour from Anderson Tour. Once we scheduled our trip, it has an option for the pick up point. We chose Baker street as this is the one near our hostel.
We bought and ate our breakfast at McDonald’s since they said that the pick up will be in the from of McDonald’s at 8:10 am. We were there by 7:30 am. By 8:05 am, we wait downstairs. Good thing we went outside McDonald’s or we have missed the bus. Since it didn’t go to the front of McDonald’s. We just saw a white bus, and kinda different with the red bus in London. The Bus arrived 8:12 am. Close call. ?
Once the driver verified our names, we went to our next pick up point. Luckily we chose Baker Street as the other pick up points were packed. We got the front seats besides the tour guide ?.
Once we were settled, the tour guide explains all the rules. Seat belt are required even you’re a passenger in a bus or you will have a fine for not wearing it. Then they let us take a nap, as the travel time to Stonehenge will take 1.5 hours. We had a quick stop too and took the chance to buy a snack, since the bus doesn’t have restroom inside. And the guide told us that we can eat some food as long as it doesn’t have a strong smell. As courtesy to other passengers.
While at the bus, the tour guide said some interesting facts in Stonehenge. In no time, we have arrived in Stonehenge area. The guide, got our tickets and gave us audio devices to listen to the history of Stonehenge. The ticket will serve as the entrance to Stonehenge which you will need to take a shuttle bus going to the said site.
And tada!!!! I’m so speechless, seeing the Stonehenge face to face, was like a dream come true ?. So of course the 90 minutes allotted to us was spent on taking pictures of the Stonehenge.
We forgot to listen to the audio device, luckily we can download it in their site.
We were so focus in taking pictures that we lost track of time. We were requested to be back in the tour bus at exactly 1:00 pm and it is already 12:50 pm. Luckily the shuttles are every 5 minutes, but we still need to go to the car park. At least we made it on time at exactly 1:00 pm (on the dot!) and we’re not late ?.
And off we go to Roman Baths. Took a nap again ’cause the travel time almost 2 hours.
We were given 2 hours to roam the Roman Baths, since it is a large city. We just went to the popular sites that the guide marked in the map. It also has an audio device, which I didn’t even use…?
The other spots is a 15-minute uphill walk. These are the Circus and the Royal Crescent in city of Baths.
Once we were done with all the sites, we bought ice cream while waiting for the tour bus.
While on our way back to London. The tour guide showed us the Windsor Castle and the St. George’s Chapel where the Royal Wedding will be held. So I guess we will just see it from a far. ?
What a beautiful trip you had! You were able to visit so many great places! And the ice cream looks so delicious!!!
