Traveling New York City with baby and toddlers
Last time I was in New York was 2016, when I travelled solo. And this time, I’m travelling with our baby and a toddler.
It’s hard to drive in a busy city especially in New York City. So we used subway instead. We just drove a car to city when it was raining, and we only need to go to Children’s Museum. But even if it’s just one place, it took us an hour to get out of the city.
We spend like 4-5 days in NYC to see the tourist spots. Travelling with stroller is not easy cause some subways does not have lifts or just long stairs, or it’s a long walk inside the subway just to find one. Not to mention that there’s a lot of people too in subways.
We spend almost a day at Liberty. We went to New Jersey side since it’s not that crowded.
Then the next day we just spent some time in the city. And to see the Dumbo bridge.
NYC have new attractions, like the Edge Observation Deck and SUMMIT One Vanderbilt. We went to SUMMIT and bought our tickets online. It took us an hour to finish the tour.
The transportation in NYC still the same, so I was able to use my card and reloaded it.
When travelling with kids, you may need a travel stroller or a baby carrier for infant. Baby bag of course with all the essentials (baby food, wipes, diapers, milk (formula), baby snacks, some books or toys, water, extra clothes)
Also keep in mind, that you may need to carry the stroller in stairs, so traveling lightly will help.
We drove to NYC and took us 7hrs with stop overs. We didn’t drive that much in the city. When we stayed in New Jersey, we parked our car at Exchange Place building that is close to subway train that’s bound to World Trade Center. And from there we just used the NYC subway train.
Some small food stall don’t have high chair, so we needed to put our 1yr baby on our lap while eating.
At the Liberty, it can be windy, so if you are travelling around April, you might want to have some hoodie or small blanket for little ones.
